Risks of storing hazardous chemicals in summer
Dangerous chemicals are toxic, harmful, flammable and explosive. Their production, storage, use and transportation are highly dangerous. If safety risks are not properly controlled, serious consequences may occur.
The increase in temperature increases the volume of hazardous chemicals and increases the pressure. The expansion coefficient of flammable liquids is generally large. When stored in a closed container, the volume is easy to expand after heating. At the same time, the vapor pressure increases, which increases the pressure inside the container, which can easily cause container failure or even bursting. The "drum barrel" phenomenon of iron barrels containing flammable liquids and the bursting of glass containers in high temperature seasons are all caused by thermal expansion. If the container is open, the liquid will overflow when it expands beyond its capacity, causing running, bubbling, dripping, and leakage. In order to prevent this from happening, in addition to taking heat prevention and cooling measures, it is also necessary to control the filling volume, that is, filling according to the specified filling coefficient. As for gases, their expansion coefficient is even greater. Gases are generally stored in steel cylinders. As the temperature rises, the pressure in the steel cylinder will increase. For example, when the oxygen cylinder is 0℃, the pressure in the bottle is 150kg/cm2; when the temperature rises to 54.6℃, the pressure rises to 180 kg/cm2. If the pressure is too high, the cylinder is in danger of exploding.
The increase in temperature speeds up the evaporation rate of the liquid. The evaporation capacity of flammable liquids is not only related to the properties of the liquid itself, but also more affected by the surrounding environment, among which the temperature has a more important impact on it. The higher the temperature, the faster the flammable liquid evaporates, the greater the vapor concentration on the liquid surface, the greater the possibility of forming an explosive mixed gas with the air, and the greater the risk of fire and explosion. The evaporation rate of different liquids varies due to differences in temperature, boiling point, specific gravity, and pressure. The ease of evaporation of flammable liquids is expressed by the boiling point. The lower the boiling point, the stronger the evaporation of the liquid. The boiling point of some flammable liquids is very low. For example, under normal pressure, the boiling point of gasoline is 50°C. If the ambient temperature exceeds its boiling point, it is easy to be dangerous.
Due to the influence of environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, many hazardous chemicals are easily decomposed after being heated, releasing oxygen or even oxygen atoms, causing other substances to oxidize and releasing a large amount of heat. If the ventilation is poor, the heat will accumulate and not dissipate, causing the temperature to rise, which will accelerate the oxidation rate, generate more heat, and cause the temperature to continue to rise. When the temperature reaches the auto-ignition point of the substance, the substance will spontaneously ignite. Some substances with low auto-ignition points, such as yellow phosphorus (auto-ignition point is 30°C), will spontaneously ignite when they come into contact with air when the temperature exceeds its auto-ignition point in summer if they are not properly stored.

In view of the high temperature in summer, the ZOYET outdoor chemical storage cabinet adopts anti-magnetic galvanized weathering steel and steel welding body for fire prevention, explosion prevention, lightning protection and anti-static. It can be equipped with a variety of systems according to needs: explosion-proof temperature control system, explosion-proof ventilation system, fire protection system in the cabinet, environmental monitoring system in the cabinet, pressure relief system, emergency sprinkler system, anti-leakage system, lightning protection and anti-static system, etc.......
